VISUAL Proudly Presents, "The Parallax" New Artwork by Jorge Gutierrez.
Saturday January 11, 2014, 6 -10 pm. 3776 30th street 92104 My name is Jorge Gutierrez and I'm a San Diego based painter. My work represents my obsession of the symbiotic nature between reality and the often unknown dimensions of the mind, the two coexist harmoniously forever entwined by the threads of the conscious and unconscious mind. I paint what i see out in the world as well as the world that is inside of me. My figurative work is my outer vision, how i choose to see things and the people around me. I represent energy with abstraction and playfulness between the subject and its surroundings, at times fusing the two to convey a sense of oneness between space and matter. I enjoy using layers of single strokes to create the illusion of blending, some marks strategically placed and others just out of pure impulse. These paintings; while representational are also loose and at times messy, I find this technique incredibly pleasing. My surreal and more graphically stylized work is a product of my unconscious. I represent it as this dark being i like to call "nebula" he is the physical manifestation of my unconscious, digging deep in order to bring to the surface my most personal thoughts, dreams and moments of self realization. These paintings are more colorful and animated in order to balance the fact that the ideas originate from the dark void that is the unconscious, in my opinion everything comes from darkness, because every conscious act or choice is first conceived in the blackest unknown that is the unconscious mind. This is why I consider both styles truly one single body of work, one depending on the other in order to maintain the balance of a single entity. Like day and night, like ying and yang, as above, so below." -Jorge http://www.jorge-gutierrez.com https://www.facebook.com/jorgegutierrezartist https://www.facebook.com/nihilistdesigns dly Presents "The Parallax" New Artwork by Jorge Gutierrez.
